The chalcedony scaraboid in silver ring is an ecsquisite gem. it was made in the Classical time period. It is Greek. This ring is from the mid fifth century B. C. The artist is unknown but this gem is, well, a gem.
This Gem was made in the mid fifht century known as the classical period. Though this era didnt last longer then 100 years it was quite signifigant. This era produced many unique and beautiful items. Though we do not have access to many first hand greek accounts or records we can learn many things from the athean records due to their excess documentation of that time.
Chalcedony is a type of gem stone used in this ring. It is said to have healing powers. many beleived it could help those who use it. the owner of this ring may have been using it for this and wearing it to enhance the process. Thsi wouldve been made by cutting the stone and overlaying a layer of silver and then it wouldve been etched or carved into.
